AllokAcad-back: backend and business rules of the class assignment system
One of the greatest challenges in the academic management within an educational institution is the allocation of faculty members to demanding curricular components, in accordance with the institution’s physical spaces and the available teaching schedules. This arises from the multifactorial nature of the optimization problem, which depends on the interconnections of various interests and constraints. With this issue in mind, the prototype presented in this papper was developed as one of the modules in a broader development chain, aiming to provide the back-end structure of a complete class assignment system for teachers, with its own business rules and taking into account the aforementioned factors. Thus, this system has the potential to create the supporting structure for a more robust environment, capable of addressing the class assignment problem from beginning to end, mitigating conflicts, and making institutional management time more rational, while saving unnecessary effort and simplifying the daily routines of the administrators.
