Preparation of MPCN Catalyst and Its Enhancement of Persulfate-Assisted Photocatalytic Degradation of Tetracycline Under Visible Light

Broken hollow porous tubular carbon nitride (MPCN) was synthesized by incorporating 3-methyl-2,4-pentanedione (MP) into the carbon nitride (CN) skeleton, using a simple thermal copolymerization method. The permethionate (PMS)-assisted photocatalytic degradation system based on MPCN was constructed for the degradation of tetracycline (TC). The results showed that MPCN-35/PMS/Vis presented excellent degradation performance and stability for TC, degrading 96.54% of TC within 120 min, being 3.45 folds of CN/PMS/Vis. The mechanism of enhanced PMS-assisted photocatalytic degradation of TC was proposed: (1) The conjugated structure of CN was extended by introducing the enol structure, which accelerated the electron migration. (2) The active species ( 1 O 2 and h[Formula: see text]) played a crucial role in MPCN-35/PMS/Vis system to degrade TC.
