Health for All: Vision for the Future

Abstract The vision of “Health for All” remains central to global health, emphasizing accessible, equitable, and quality health care for all individuals. This study explores how postgraduate students of Community Medicine in Mumbai envision achieving this goal by 2050, using qualitative responses to an open-ended prompt on Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Thematic analysis of 51 responses revealed key themes: strengthened primary health care, digital health integration, reduction in out-of-pocket expenses, improved health infrastructure, and emphasis on social determinants. Students expressed optimism about equity, mental health integration, and use of technology, but also voiced concerns about workforce shortages, implementation gaps, and resource constraints. Their perspectives align with WHO strategies yet highlight the need for stronger policy action, education reforms, and real-world public health exposure. Community medicine professionals are poised to bridge health systems and communities through innovation and advocacy. Empowering them is vital to realizing India’s vision of UHC and health equity by 2050.
