Towards a brighter future and sustainability in energy: an editorial essay
Abstract The development and deployment of sustainable energy solutions are central to the energy transition and climate change mitigation. However, it is equally important to address environmental, economic, and societal implications to ensure responsible and sustainable progress. Increasing the use of clean energy is a prerequisite to achieving climate goals, but scaling up poses new challenges, often of a societal, social, and political nature. However, such new challenges can spur new innovations to find better solutions and should be perceived not only as limitations but also as future opportunities. To best navigate the energy transition, Oxford Open Energy emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary approaches.
