The Role of Dermoscopy in Diagnosing STI-Associated Genital Lesions
INTRODUCTION Dermoscopy, also known as dermatoscopy or epiluminescence microscopy, is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that enhances the visualization of skin features that are not typically visible to the naked eye [1]. Although traditionally used to assess pigmented lesions, dermoscopy has become an increasingly valuable tool for evaluating inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic skin conditions, overall improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing the need for unnecessary biopsies and laboratory tests [2]. More recently, its use has extended to include the evaluation of genital lesions, including those caused by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) [3].
