Ultra‐Fast Microwave‐Assisted Volumetric Heating Engineered Defect‐Free Ceria/Zirconia Bilayer Electrolytes for Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells (Adv. Mater. 39/2025)

Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells In article number 2500183, Kang Taek Lee and co-workers present a transformative approach for fabricating highly dense and thin ceria/zirconia bilayer electrolytes for solid oxide electrochemical cells using microwave-assisted volumetric sintering at unprecedentedly low temperatures and short processing times. The resulting solid oxide electrochemical cells, employing the developed bilayer electrolytes, achieved superior performance in the production of both electricity and green hydrogen.

Abstract

Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells In article number 2500183, Kang Taek Lee and co-workers present a transformative approach for fabricating highly dense and thin ceria/zirconia bilayer electrolytes for solid oxide electrochemical cells using microwave-assisted volumetric sintering at unprecedentedly low temperatures and short processing times. The resulting solid oxide electrochemical cells, employing the developed bilayer electrolytes, achieved superior performance in the production of both electricity and green hydrogen.
