Electrochemical performance of Graphite/Chitosan electrode in potassium ferro-ferricyanide electrolyte

Chitosan was employed as the binder material for graphite electrode, with the aim of exploring its potential in electrochemical performance. The incorporation of chitosan into the graphite electrode significantly enhanced its electrochemical performance, particularly during the initial stages of testing, where it exhibited remarkable electrochemical efficiency. To gain deeper insights into the formation and evolution of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on the graphite electrodes, we conducted a series of detailed measurements using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). These analyses revealed that a uniform and stable SEI layer developed on the surface of the graphite electrode, facilitated by the presence of chitosan as the binder.
