Bir Eser İki Tercüme: Gülşen-i Tevhid’in Çevirileri Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Muğlalı İbrahim Şâhidî (b. 875/1470 - d. 957/1550), one of the prominent Mevlevî poets of the 16th century, in his Gülşen-i Tevhîd, selects 100 couplets from each volume of Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî’s Mesnevî and provides commentary by composing five explanatory couplets in accordance with the Mesnevî’s meter (fâ‘ilâtün/fâ‘ilâtün/fâ‘ilün), while also establishing semantic connections between the verses. There are two known Turkish translations of this Persian work, carried out by Mithat Baharî Beytur and Afif Tektaş. This study examines both translations, presenting an overview of Gülşen-i Tevhîd while also identifying the similarities and differences between the two versions. The analysis reveals that the existing translations primarily cater to a popular readership rather than adhering to rigorous academic standards. Consequently, it has been determined that a new translation of Muğlalı İbrahim Şâhidî’s Gülşen-i Tevhîd into Turkish, conducted with scholarly precision and academic rigor, is necessary.
