GÜVENCELİ ESNEKLİĞİN İNŞASINDA SOSYAL DEMOKRASİNİN YERİ: TEORİK VE TARİHSEL BİR İNCELEME
In contemporary times, flexible employment and non-standard forms of work have become significant components of social and economic life. The concept of flexicurity, which merges flexible employment—a product of liberalism—with the right to secure work—a fundamental principle of socialism—has emerged from the attempt to reconcile these seemingly divergent ideals. This study aims to examine the key dynamics that have facilitated the development of the flexicurity model. The first section will address the historical evolution of employment flexibility, its reflections on economic and social life, and the models that have translated flexible employment from theory into practice. The second section will focus on the historical development of social democracy, its critical junctures, and its evolutionary trajectory. The final section will scrutinize the relationship between social democracy and the construction and evolution of the flexicurity concept. Throughout the article, emphasis is placed on the correlation between the historical process of social democracy and flexicurity. The social and economic outcomes of flexible employment are also highlighted as key topics of discussion. This study concentrates on the theoretical and historical development of flexicurity. Social democracy is a significant theory with roots in socialism and branches extending into liberalism, finding practical application in various regions, particularly in Northern Europe. Social democracy has undergone a long evolutionary journey, transitioning from an understanding centered on the power of the working class to a focus on fostering a conciliatory environment between the bourgeoisie and the working class. Utilizing documentation analysis and an extensive literature review, this study interrogates the role of social democracy in flexible employment policies and examines the conditions underpinning the construction of the flexicurity model.
