A culturally-inspired quad-band qing-shaped patch antenna with quadrant-quadrant-swipe feed optimization
This communication introduces a novel natural design technique for microstrip patch antennas, exemplified by the Qing(情)-shaped patch antenna inspired by Lisu calligraphy. The unique shape of the Qing symbol, representing deep emotional bonds and interconnectedness, significantly influences the antenna's electromagnetic properties. Unlike conventional patch antennas, the Qing-shaped patch operates across four distinct frequency bands (1.7, 2.1, 2.6, and 3.0 GHz) with peak gains of 7.84 dBi, 8.4 dBi, 5.6 dBi, and 8.0 dBi, respectively, in unidirectional radiation. The design leverages the unique shape of the Qing symbol to create distinct resonant modes, as revealed by surface current distributions and radiation patterns. The Quadrant-Quadrant-Swipe (QQS) technique was employed to determine the optimal feed location, enhancing performance. This natural design approach offers a unique solution for multiband applications, integrating cultural heritage with modern antenna engineering.
