Gershgorin Feedback Control for Talkative Buck Converters in DC Microgrids

DC microgrids become more and more important since most of the renewable energy sources and energy storages rely on dc. In such dc microgrids the voltage cannot be considered as a global variable for appropriated grid control. Hence, a communication link between the power electronic converters in the dc microgrid is necessary to control the power flow. Beside traditional communication techniques, talkative power conversion (TPC) is a suitable strategy as it takes advantage of the already existing infrastructure and uses the dc link as a channel. The implications on the control as well as possible latencies can affect the dc microgrid’s stability so that it is of greater importance to find methods to ensure the dc microgrid stability even under uncertain conditions. This work analyses a talkative dc microgrid comprising of two talkative buck converters and examines its stability with regard to TPC through the Gershgorin circle theorem. Basing on that theorem a state-feedback control is proposed and validated for talkative buck converters in the dc microgrid.
