Fixed-Time Event-Triggered Secondary Frequency Control for Islanded Microgrids

This paper proposes a distributed fixed-time event-triggered secondary control scheme for islanded microgrids with virtual synchronous generators. The proposed approach addresses the limitations of conventional droop-based and centralized controls by achieving rapid frequency regulation through bounded disturbance rejection and reduced communication overhead. The dynamic model of inverter-based distributed generation units is developed and integrated with advanced feedback control to ensure robust convergence, regardless of initial conditions. Simulation results under various load scenarios confirm the proposed method’s effectiveness in enhancing stability, improving transient responses, and mitigating communication burdens. The proposed strategy offers a scalable, resilient solution for reliable microgrid operation.
