Monitoring platform for PV devices considering I-V curve and weather data
Monitoring of photovoltaic (PV) systems through current-voltage (I-V) curves is essential for assessing system health, optimizing performance, and detecting operational anomalies. This article presents a comprehensive monitoring platform that combines the automated acquisition of I-V curves and meteorological variables with a scalable and traceable data architecture. The platform follows a hierarchical model with clearly defined layers for raw data ingestion, structured storage, and real-time data delivery, enabling efficient organization, processing, and access to large volumes of measurement data. Automated workflows manage tasks such as data synchronization, validation, transformation, and parameter extraction, supporting continuous operation with minimal manual intervention. The solution is designed for modular deployment and operational resilience, integrating advanced monitoring, comparative analysis between PV technologies, and proactive fault detection. Over a five-year period, more than 2.5 million I-V curves and environmental records were collected, demonstrating the system’s robustness and laying the foundation for future integration with predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
