Evaluating Key Factors of Energy Storage Investments for Industrial Prosumers under Optimal Energy Management Strategies
Industrial prosumers can lower emissions by combining renewable energy production with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). BESS facilitates renewable integration, increases operational flexibility, and offers revenue opportunities. However, adoption is limited by high costs, regulatory challenges, and the complexity of technical energy management. This paper examines key factors influencing BESS profitability for industrial prosumers, including load profiles, PV capacity, BESS sizing, energy prices, grid fees, and market dynamics in the German energy system. By integrating financial and power flow analysis, it provides important insights for stakeholders and policymakers to develop strategies that ensure profitable and sustainable BESS adoption.
