Synthesis and thermal behavior of single-phase tridymite
In this study, single-phase tridymite was successfully synthesized by optimizing the mixing and reaction conditions. When amorphous SiO2 and K2CO3 mineralizer were dry mixed and calcined, the cristobalite phase was formed as the main phase in addition to the tridymite phase, and the tridymite phase fraction in the samples increased with increasing reaction temperature and time. Wet mixing with ethanol improved the synthesis of single-phase tridymite. The synthesized tridymite exhibited thermal expansion and shrinkage associated with the phase transition.
