TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT OF TOUR GUIDES AS AN INDICATOR OF SERVICE QUALITY

This article examines the role of modern technical equipment in the work of tourist guides, identifying it as a key component in ensuring high-quality excursion services. In an era of intensified global mobility and diverse tourist demands, technical solutions play an increasingly vital role in facilitating effective communication, comfort, and inclusivity during guided tours. Special emphasis is placed on the use of voice amplifiers and radio guide systems, which have become indispensable tools in the professional practice of guides. Portable voice amplifiers, including lightweight loudspeakers with headsets, allow guides to maintain vocal clarity in outdoor environments and noisy urban settings without straining their voice. These devices enhance the audibility of speech in real-time for entire groups, particularly in open-air or acoustically challenging conditions. Meanwhile, radio guide systems enable wireless one-way transmission of the guide’s commentary directly to tourists’ earpieces, ensuring uninterrupted communication and reducing environmental noise interference. These systems are particularly beneficial for large or multilingual groups, allowing participants to move freely while remaining connected to the tour narrative. Moreover, the article explores the growing adoption of multilingual audio transmission devices that allow tourists to select their preferred language and receive synchronized interpretation via mobile receivers. Adapting excursions for people with hearing impairments is an important step toward inclusivity in the tourism sector. One of the most effective technological solutions in this area is the use of induction loop systems, as well as other specialized devices. The article also presents examples of international museums that have successfully integrated such equipment into their operations. These examples highlight the practical value and effectiveness of modern technical tools in the context of real-life guided tours. As a result, the article substantiates the assertion that the technical equipment used by a tour guide is not only a means of transmitting information but also a reflection of professional standards and the overall quality of tourism services.
