APLICAÇÃO DA PRIMEIRA LEI DE NEWTON NA E.E.M.T.I PROFESSOR CLODOALDO PINTO

This study presents a laboratory practice carried out at E.E.M.T.I Professor Clodoaldo Pinto, aimed at verifying Newton’s First Law, also known as the Law of Inertia. The experiment consisted of observing the behavior of a toy car at rest and in motion on a flat surface, analyzing how external forces such as friction and air resistance affect its movement. The target group included physics class monitors from 1st year A and B, using simple materials such as a toy car, ruler, stopwatch, and a controlled friction surface. The procedure was divided into two parts: the car at rest and the car in motion. The results indicated that the car remained still until an external force was applied, confirming Newton’s statement that bodies tend to maintain their state. When in motion, the car gradually decelerated due to friction, demonstrating that in real conditions external forces always act on moving objects. The analysis confirmed the relevance of friction as the main limiting factor. The discussion emphasized that in an environment without friction the car would move indefinitely, as predicted by theory. This experience enabled students to concretely understand the application of Newton’s First Law, bridging theory and practice. The conclusion highlights the importance of laboratory activities in physics teaching, reinforcing their role in deepening scientific understanding. Student feedback was very positive, with suggestions to extend the experiment to more classes.
