CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CHRONIC CATARRHAL GINGIVITIS IN CHILDREN AGED 12-15 YEARS
Periodontal diseases in children remain one of the most pressing problems in modern dentistry, as they significantly affect the condition of the dentofacial system and the quality of life of patients in the future. Gum pathologies in childhood and adolescence often remain undiagnosed in the early stages, which leads to their progression and transformation into more severe forms of periodontal lesions in adulthood. The prevalence and severity of periodontal tissue diseases vary widely on the territory of Ukraine and other countries and depend on age. Studying the prevalence and characteristics of chronic catarrhal gingivitis (CCG) among the pediatric population is important for developing effective preventive and therapeutic measures. In order to study this problem, 70 children aged 12 and 15 years diagnosed with chronic catarrhal gingivitis (HCG) were examined, as well as 60 children of the same age groups who did not show signs of periodontal tissue damage. The children were divided into four observation groups, taking into account age and gender. One of the characteristic clinical signs of HCG in children living in the city of Chernivtsi is a pronounced symptom of bleeding. During the examination and determination of the RMA index, it was found that in 12-year-old children with CGG, manifestations of inflammation are less pronounced than in 15-year-olds. At the same time, changes in the condition of periodontal tissues associated with an increase in the severity of the disease manifest themselves in a similar way in different age groups. However, the results of the assessment of the bleeding index, the presence of tartar and the Schiller-Pisarev test (both in terms of scores and the number of affected sextants) indicate that in young children, periodontal damage is more intense. This is due to the development of a subclinical pathological process, which turns into clinically pronounced inflammation with age. It has also been found that with an increase in the severity of the disease, signs of bleeding and inflammation increase in younger children, while in older children there is an increase in the intensity of tartar formation. Such differences may indicate the specifics of the formation of periodontal pathology in the child population of the studied region.
