Critical Design and Analysis of a Load-Independent Wireless Power Transfer System with Dynamic Switching for EV Charging

This paper presents the critical design, simulation, and analysis of a load-independent wireless power transfer system for electric vehicle charging applications. The proposed system is developed to ensure stable power delivery with both constant current and constant voltage outputs, regardless of load variations or misalignment conditions. Unlike conventional approaches that rely on a single compensation topology, this work introduces a dynamic switching mechanism between two resonant compensation networks: LCL-S and LCL-LCL topologies. The switching strategy is designed to automatically adapt to changes in system conditions, maintaining optimal transmission performance at all times. The LCL-S configuration is utilized to stabilize voltage output, while the LCL-LCL topology enables constant current delivery, ensuring compatibility with different stages of the battery charging process. The proposed topology is implemented and validated using simulation models, demonstrating improved output stability, higher efficiency, and strong tolerance to coupling variations. This work offers a practical and scalable framework for adaptive wireless charging systems that can maintain robust performance without the need for additional DC-DC converters or complex control schemes.
