UDAC-TK: Performance Evaluation of Authentication and Authorization Nodes for Next-Generation Smart Meter Data Distribution

IoT data distribution via distributed nodes can improve service quality and enable new services. We proposed Ticket-based Access Control, using a Ticket-based Authentication and Authorization Infrastructure (TAAI) to mediate access between IoT device owners and service providers, and evaluated its performance and security. This paper applies the method to next-generation smart meter services for electricity, water, and gas. We model electricity meters communicating via a Wi-SUN HAN to distribute water and gas meter data, and evaluate the authentication load on TAAI nodes.
