System Development for Requirements Analyzing for Software Project Manager Competency in Thailand based on Project Management Competency Development Framework
One of the most challenging aspects in project management (PM) careers is the lack of clear information about what skills and competencies are widely needed in the industry. This research aims to study the PM skills that employers in Thailand are looking for by using keywords extracted from the Project Manager Competency Development (PMCD) Framework, a well-known and trusted standard, to search for job offerings in the advertisements. The PMCD Framework clearly defines the important project management skills and classifies them into three competency types: Knowledge, Performance, and Personal. The proposed search and ranking algorithm are based on the vector space model. In addition, a web-based application that supports the proposed methodology consists of automated query generation, job posting document preprocessing, similarity score computation, and similarity ranking score result visualization. The research results help practitioners identify the PM skills needed and prepare themself to reach the industry competency expectation.
