Grid-Supportive Load Control in DC Microgrids Using Hysteresis-Based Voltage Regulation

This paper presents a hysteresis-based control strategy for Grid-Supportive Loads (GSL) in DC microgrids, building upon a previously introduced dead-band-based method. By combining hysteresis and dead-band concepts, the GSL control achieves reduced chattering and enables smoother, more stable load adjustments during grid disturbances. The proposed approach ensures precise and adaptive voltage support by leveraging the flexibility of power electronics-interfaced loads. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the strategy, demonstrating a notable reduction in voltage deviations and improved system dynamics compared to the original dead-band-only control. These results highlight the potential of the proposed method to advance DC microgrid control systems.
