Optimization Study of Low-Latency Service Architecture for Emerging Access Networks
Emerging latency-sensitive applications such as industrial automation and real-time analytics demand access networks that guarantee ultra-low latency and high bandwidth. This paper proposes a converged access network architecture that integrates GPON and XGS-PON technologies with multilayer slicing and edge computing, spanning both fixed-access and aggregation network domains. The design enables dynamic traffic isolation and scalable private network deployment while minimizing end-to-end delays. Experimental results demonstrate uplink and downlink latencies as low as $17.32 \mu \mathrm{~s}$ and $15.51 \mu \mathrm{~s}$, respectively, with throughput up to 8.5 Gbps. Even under $80 \%$ bandwidth load and multi-ONU scenarios, the architecture maintains latency within $\mathbf{1 0 0} \boldsymbol{\mu} \mathbf{s}$ and jitter below $1.2 \mu$ s, confirming its effectiveness for future ultra-low-latency services.
