Enhancement of synchronization precision for 5G and Beyond with single-fiber bidirectional architecture using Optical Duplexer over AllPhotonic Network
All-Photonic Network (APN) can be configured to ensure low latency, but the difference between the propagation times in two opposite directions will still introduce more time offset for clock synchronization. We present a novel approach to synchronization signal transmission using a single-fiber bidirectional architecture with optical duplexer over APN. The proposed method addresses the challenges of limited fiber resources and time offsets caused by asymmetric delays in optical transport paths. By integrating optical duplexer, the architecture effectively conserves fiber resources and mitigates time offsets, ensuring high-quality synchronization signals. Experimental results demonstrate that the use of optical duplexer stabilizes time error measurements and enhances synchronization accuracy, making it a viable solution for innovative time-sensitive mobile fronthaul applications.
