Modeling and optimization for extended warehouse facilities corridor allocation problem

Existing studies on corridor allocation problem often overlook the role of warehouse facilities in workshop logistics. To address this gap, this research extends the original corridor allocation problem framework by integrating independent warehouse facilities, aiming to explore their impact on total material handling costs. A mixed-integer programming model is formulated to characterize the problem both qualitatively and quantitatively. For efficient problem-solving, a directed hybrid genetic algorithm is proposed. The algorithm synergizes swarm intelligence mechanism of particle swarm optimization algorithm with tailored warehouse-specific optimization operators to accelerate convergence and improve solution quality. Extensive computational experiments on diverse-scale instances confirm the model's validity and the algorithm's superiority in balancing solution accuracy and computational efficiency. Results highlight the critical influence of warehouse facility configurations on logistics costs, providing actionable insights for optimizing integrated production-warehouse systems.
