Öğretmenlerin Değerler Eğitimi Özyeterlik Algısı Ölçeğinin Geliştirilmesi: Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması
This study aims to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine teachers’ perceptions of self-efficacy in values education. The study is a screening model. The scale development study was carried out with 742 teachers. An item pool of 39 items was created by scanning the resources on values education to create the scale items. Opinions were received from faculty members who are experts in the field to evaluate the face and content validity of the scale. In the first stage of the study, an exploratory factor analysis was performed, and a three-factor structure was determined. It was seen that the factors of the first scale consisting of 35 items explained 48% of the total variance. In the second stage, a first-level confirmatory factor analysis was performed. It was confirmed that the structure comprising 35 items and three factors was compatible with the data. A second-level confirmatory factor analysis was performed to determine whether the factors forming the values education self-efficacy perception scale explained the values education self-efficacy perception variable. The final scale consisting of 35 items and three dimensions was determined to be compatible with the obtained data. As a result of the reliability analysis, the Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient for the entire scale was calculated as .92 and McDonald’s Omega coefficient as .93. The results show that the values education self-efficacy scale is valid and reliable and is a solid measurement tool for determining teachers’ values education self-efficacy perceptions.
