Leading Through Change in Non-Profit Organizations: Adaptive Leadership, Resilience, and Stakeholder Engagement
Leading change in non-profit organizations requires a distinctive balance between strategic foresight, empathetic leadership, and stakeholder participation. This article explores how adaptive leadership frameworks can guide non-profits through transitions in uncertain and resource-constrained environments. It integrates analytical tools such as SWOT analysis, scenario planning, and risk management with relational strategies of transparency, inclusion, and resilience-building. Drawing on case studies from BRAC, Barefoot College, and Tostan, the discussion illustrates how non-profit leaders sustain motivation, trust, and mission integrity amid volatility. For scholars, the article advances theoretical understanding of change management in mission-driven contexts; for practitioners, it provides actionable insights for strengthening team resilience, community engagement, and adaptive capacity in times of transition.
