Strategic Planning and Execution in Non-Profit Organizations: Adaptive, Participatory, and Learning-Centered Approaches
Strategic planning in non-profit organizations must reconcile mission clarity with adaptability in volatile, resource-constrained environments. This article presents an integrated model of adaptive, participatory, and learning-centered planning that links strategic vision to flexible execution. It demonstrates how adaptive frameworks translate mission into modular, scalable initiatives; how participatory design strengthens alignment and accountability; and how continuous monitoring and double-loop learning refine both actions and assumptions. Drawing on cases from BRAC, Tostan, and Barefoot College, the discussion illustrates how diversified funding, community engagement, and transparent feedback mechanisms sustain impact under uncertainty. For scholars, the article advances strategy theory in low-resource contexts; for practitioners, it offers practical instruments—scenario planning, stakeholder mapping, KPI dashboards, and learning reviews—to enhance resilience, responsiveness, and execution discipline.
