How Do We Address the Shortage of Child Abuse Pediatricians?

INTRODUCTION Each year in the U.S., there are approximately 4 million reports to Child Protective Services (CPS) agencies for suspected abuse or neglect. 1 Roughly 550,000 children were confirmed as victims by CPS in 2023, including 2,000 fatalities. Medical personnel reported 11.2% of these victims, but many more were reported but not confirmed by CPS. 1
