ANEMIA FALCIFORME E A ENFERMAGEM PEDIÁTRICA: ANÁLISE SOBRE O PAPEL DA ENFERMAGEM PEDIÁTRICA NO TRATAMENTO DE CRIANÇAS COM ANEMIA FALCIFORME
Sickle cell anemia is a chronic hereditary disease with high prevalence in Brazil, especially among Afro-descendant populations, and constitutes a significant public health issue. Its complex clinical manifestations require continuous attention and a multidisciplinary approach from childhood. In this context, pediatric nursing plays a central role in the comprehensive care of affected children, from early diagnosis to the promotion of quality of life. This study aims to analyze the role of pediatric nursing in the treatment of children with sickle cell anemia, highlighting its responsibilities, challenges, and contributions. The methodology used was an integrative exploratory review based on 12 articles published between 2019 and 2025. The results indicate that nurses play an essential role in clinical surveillance, pain management, family guidance, and coordination of multidisciplinary care. However, limitations such as lack of specific training, resource scarcity, and absence of standardized protocols were identified. It is concluded that strengthening continuing education, institutional recognition, and the implementation of effective public policies are fundamental to improving the quality of care and ensuring more humanized, safe, and effective assistance for children with sickle cell anemia.
