Unlocking Incoherent Fluorescence Holography via On‐Chip Meta‐Optics

Abstract Fluorescence is a ubiquitous emission source in the daily lives and is essential to a wide range of applications, including illumination, biosensing, optical imaging, and spectroscopy. However, due to its intrinsic random phase and weak spatiotemporal coherence, precise phase modulation and encoding for incoherent fluorescence remain elusive, significantly restricting its complex light‐field implementation. Here, utilizing on‐chip metasurfaces serves as an effective strategy for creating incoherent fluorescence holography to manipulate the guided photoluminescence from the integrated quantum dots, which significantly enhances its spatiotemporal coherence. To demonstrate this capability, multi‐dimensional light‐emitting meta‐displays are constructed in both near‐field and far‐field regimes, with independent encoding freedom for both fluorescence and pump light, demonstrating up to six‐channel optical displays. It is anticipated that the incoherent holographic approach is of promising potential for various cutting‐edge applications, including programmable fluorescent emitters, optical information encryption/storage, and next‐generation multi‐dimensional displays.
