Enhancing Antistatic Property of <scp>PTFE</scp> Coatings via Formation of Conductive Networks With Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene Nanoplatelets

ABSTRACT With the rapid advancement of polymer materials, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has emerged as a highly versatile engineering material with exceptional properties. However, PTFE's insulating properties and high surface resistivity hinder its use in certain applications. Herein, a kind of antistatic coating was prepared with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as the matrix, modified graphene nanoplatelets (GNP), and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as conductive fillers. The excellent dispersibility and good conductive ability of GNP PVP endow the PTFE@GNP PVP ‐CNTs composite coating with an outstanding antistatic property. When the GNP PVP content is 2 wt.% and the CNTs content is 1 wt.%, the PTFE@GNP PVP ‐CNT composite coating shows good antistatic properties with a surface resistivity of 1 × 10 7 Ω·cm. Low average friction coefficients and wear rates are achieved in the PTFE@GNP PVP ‐CNT composite coating with 3 wt.% GNP PVP content. Meanwhile, the PTFE@GNP PVP ‐CNT composite coating is found to exhibit excellent hydrophobicity, acid and alkali resistance, and thermal stability. Furthermore, this study presents a novel design strategy for developing high‐performance antistatic coatings by incorporating two distinct conductive materials (GNP and CNTs) into the polymer matrix.

However, PTFE's insulating properties and high surface resistivity hinder its use in certain applications.
