Borophene nanosheets bearing antioxidative enzyme-like activities for protection against cisplatin-induced hearing loss
Catalytic therapy over biocompatible nanocatalysts serves as a promising approach for hearing loss protection. Herein, ultrathin two-dimensional borophene nanosheets (BNSs) were obtained via liquid exfoliation, demonstrating good antioxidative catalytic activities for converting highly toxic reactive oxygen species. The BNSs exhibit significant protective effects against cisplatin-induced hair cell damage, as demonstrated in HEI-OC1 cells, cochlear explants, and zebrafish larvae, and further mechanistic studies highlighted their therapeutic potential in hearing loss.
