OD RASTJELOVLJENJA DO GNOSTIČKOG PONIŠTENJA
The fate of humanity within the post-biological horizon suggests the surpassing of the metaphysical horizon in which humans, as mortal beings, are defined by their position in the world. With the questioning of the entire history of metaphysics and the ontological differentiation of being, existence, and the essence of humanity, human obsolescence becomes a direct insight into the end of biological development. The posthuman condition, characterized by the biological reconfiguration of humans, presupposes a permanent technological revolution aimed at achieving a technological utopia centered on the image of immortality as a virtual simulation of life. The horizon of the virtual, as a cybernetic network of real-time events, is inconceivable from the perspective of traditional metaphysical oppositions: form and matter, immanent and transcendent, internal and external. For the actualization of the possibility of human existence in a state of immortality— arising from intelligence replacing the concept of the soul—a material- independent sphere of virtual reality is necessary. Technology, representing a new evolutionary stage within the development of nature, ultimately leads to the end of humanity, a result achievable only by overcoming the biological determinism of human evolution. Within a posthuman-structured world devoid of a fundamental transformation. It evolves into another life: a spiritual game of immortals with themselves. In this way, posthumanism, under altered circumstances and with a new resonance, appears to actualize Gnostic mysteries and visions of unity and universal communication between humanity, matter, and the cosmos. Could it be that communication technologies and the cyber-mediated world filled with virtual elements are on the path toward the “realization” of the Gnostic vision of a single, “true world”? If these visions are not prophecies of what is to come in reality but rather in an unreal form, the question arises: does what we encounter in the form of digital-virtual visions represent the triumph of science over art, philosophy, and myth?
