NEGATION AS THE BASIS OF LINGUISTIC CONTRAST
Introduction. Negation belongs to the universal linguistic categories and occupies a special place in the structure of human thinking. It constitutes one of the key logical and grammatical operations through which a person comprehends and structures reality. At the core of any utterance lies a binary opposition: affirmation vs. negation, which reflects the natural tendency of human reasoning to divide the world based on the presence or absence of certain features.
