Provider dashboards: Meeting practice objectives with oncology performance metric criteria.

69 Background: In 2021 Texas Oncology established Oncology Performance Metrics Criteria. This initiative aimed to enhance the quality of care by incentivizing individual performance. Methods: The Oncology Performance Metrics were based on quality metrics tied to practice objectives. Initially, quarterly emails were sent to individual providers with their year-to-date performance results. Individual Provider Dashboards were created in April 2024, with monthly performance updates starting in July 2024. In 2023 Advance Care Planning in Stage 4 Disease (PIMSH1) and Patient Reported Pain Improvement (PIMSH4) were added to the provider performance metrics. Patients who Died from Cancer Receiving Systemic Cancer-directed Therapy in the Last 14 Days of Life (MIPS 453) and Research Enrollment rates were added in 2024. Results: PIMSH1 improved 22% in 2023 and 18% in 2024, with 79% of eligible providers meeting the goal in 2023 and 98% meeting the goal in 2024. PIMSH4 improved 8% in 2023 and 3% in 2024, with 83% of eligible providers meeting the goal in 2023 and 88% meeting the goal in 2024. MIPS 453 improved 6 % in 2023 and 12% in 2024, with 79% of eligible providers meeting the goal in 2024. Research Enrollment rates increased by 108% in 2024, with 73% of providers meeting the goal. Conclusions: The implementation of the Oncology Performance Metrics has led to significant improvements in key areas of patient care. The metrics have driven enhancements in advance care planning, pain management, chemotherapy administration, and research enrollment. The positive trends observed in the data underscore the effectiveness of sharing provider performance to achieve better patient outcomes. Future efforts should focus on refining these metrics and exploring additional areas for improvement to continue advancing the quality of oncology care.
