Estado actual en la implementación de la metodología Building Information Modeling (BIM) aplicada a la infraestructura vial en Colombia

The Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology in road infrastructure is a developing area worldwide, with significant potential demonstrated in the transportation sector. This article aims to provide a comprehensive and updated review of the literature, accompanied by a critical analysis of research areas related to BIM in road infrastructure throughout the entire life cycle. This seeks to promote research and applications in Colombia through a global comparison. A total of 61 publications from 2019 to 2024 were reviewed, including journal articles, conference proceedings, and reports. The results show an increase in the use of BIM in transportation infrastructure, highlighting the urgent need for a neutral exchange format and a standard scheme to promote interoperability. Most importantly, continuous collaboration between academia and industry is essential to overcome challenges and maximize the potential of BIM in this field.
