Growth and Yield Potential of Several Sorghum Cultivars to Brassinolide Spraying
Abstract An experiment was implemented in the spring and fall seasons of 2023 at the College of Agriculture, University of Anbar to determination the response of diffent sorghum genotypes to spraying of brassinolide and their influence on some growth and yield parameters. A randomized complete block design depending on split-plot arranging with three replications was utilized. The major plots contained two concentrations of brassinolide (1 and 2 mg L −1 ), as well as a non-spraying of brassinolide (control treatment), whilst the sub-plots contained four sorghum cultivars (Rabeh, Li, Lilo and Tabet). The findings clarified that the Rabeh cultivar significantly outperformed in most growth and yield parameters by producing the highest leaf area (4613 cm 2 ), leaves number per plant (13.83 and 14.37) and yield (3.72 and 4.76 ton ha −1 ) in the spring and fall seasons, sequentially. The concentrations of the brassinolide significantly affected the growth and yield parameters, as 2 mg L −1 achieved the highest mean s for all studied parameters, including yield (3.39 and 4.72 ton ha −1 ), in the spring and fall seasons, sequentially. The factors overlap was significant influence on most of the studied parameters.
