“Bedside” percutaneous device closure of hemodynamically significant ductus arteriosus in an extreme low birth weight preterm
Percutaneous device closure is fast gaining ground in the field of preterm ductus arteriosus intervention, post the introduction of specialized devices. However, percutaneous device closure in a preterm duct without fluoroscopic assistance has not been reported in India. We report the successful “bedside” Amplatzer Piccolo TM device closure of a hemodynamically significant ductus in an extremely low birth weight baby using only echocardiographic and portable X-ray assistance.
