High-Robust Power Integrated Synchronization Scheme for the Grid-Forming Inverter
Synchronization stability is a critical foundation for both grid-following (GFL) and grid-forming (GFM) inverter systems. However, the widely adopted phase-locked loop (PLL) in GFL inverters and power synchronization control (PSC) in GFM inverters demonstrate complementary characteristics in terms of grid strength adaptability. From a control structure perspective, their inherent similarity and duality can be clearly identified, offering new insights into their potential integration. This paper proposes a power integrated synchronization for the robust operation of grid-forming inverters. This method synergistically integrates PLL and PSC technologies within the GFM inverter framework, thus enabling the system to achieve plug-and-play functionality irrespective of grid strength variations. Extensive experimental results validate the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
