A SiC/Si Hybrid Pulsed Power Supply for High-Current Laser Diode Driving
In response to the development trends toward lightweight and digitalization of semiconductor laser pump driving power supplies, this paper proposes a switched constant-current-driven pulsed discharge network based on SiC (silicon carbide) devices, capable of flexibly adjusting current amplitude, pulse width, and repetition frequency. Compared to traditional linear constant-current driving methods, the switched constant-current driving approach significantly reduces conduction losses, making it more suitable for long-pulse applications. A diode is used instead of a traditional resistor as the load, making it closer to actual operating conditions. A modeling analysis and control design for the constant-current pulsed discharge network are presented, achieving precise pulse current control at the microsecond scale. A prototype power supply was developed, demonstrating a maximum output of 100 A pulsed constant current with a rise time under 10 μs, a maximum pulse width of 300 μs, and a repetition frequency up to 1000 Hz.
