Shaping the Future of Mobility: An Overview of Electric Vehicles and Intelligent Transportation Systems

The integration of electric vehicles (EVs) with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is changing the face of modern mobility. This article explores many perspectives on how EVs influence and are influenced by the advancement of ITS infrastructure and technology. Rather than focusing solely on technical performance, the discussion expands to include larger topics such as sustainability, energy efficiency, digital connectivity, and traffic management. The analysis focuses on both the potential (reduced emissions, stronger smart grid integration, and improved urban mobility) and the constraints (charging infrastructure, interoperability, system resilience). This paper provides an overview of the increasing relationship between EVs and ITS, including technological viewpoints. The article finishes with thoughts on future directions, highlighting the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and long-term planning to guarantee that the convergence of EVs and ITS contributes meaningfully to sustainable and intelligent mobility.
