Effect of Coolant Placement on Thermal and Energy Efficiency in Two-Wheeled Electric Vehicles
The energy efficiency of electric vehicles (EVs) is greatly influenced by the effectiveness of the thermal management system. Among various methods, liquid cooling has proven to be the most effective. However, the strategic placement of the cooling system plays a critical role in determining overall battery power consumption. This study investigates the impact of cooler placement on key components namely the battery, motor controller, and BLDC motor in two-wheeled electric vehicles. Experimental evaluations were conducted to measure operating temperatures and battery power usage across different cooling configurations. The results indicate that optimal placement of the cooling system significantly reduces component temperatures and battery energy consumption, thereby enhancing system efficiency and extending the lifespan of the EV. These findings provide practical insights for designing efficient and reliable thermal management systems for two-wheeled electric vehicles.
