Design of Skid Frame for Charging Station Using FEA and Numerical Method

The mining sector contributes approximately 17% to Indonesia’s export value, with export volumes reaching around 88.338,66 million tons for mineral resources and 25.070,50 million tons for coal. Operations in this sector rely heavily on various types of vehicles for material transport. In support of global decarbonization efforts, the mining industry is transitioning from fossil fuel-powered vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). A key component enabling this shift is the provision of reliable charging stations at strategic locations within mining areas. To meet the demanding operational conditions of such environments, this study proposes the design of a one-ton skid and frame as a portable platform for EV charging stations. The design emphasizes structural durability, ease of deployment, and adaptability to rugged terrains. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS software is employed to evaluate stress distribution, deformation, and safety factors under critical loading scenarios. Additionally, numerical methods are applied to validate key design parameters and ensure consistency with engineering standards. The results demonstrate that the proposed skid and frame design meets the structural performance requirements for safe and effective use in mining applications.
