Voltammetric determination of titanium(IV) and molybdenum(VI) in metalcontaining organic compounds of cluster type using sulfuric phosphoric acid dimethylsulfoxide containing background electrolytes
Metal-containing organic compounds of cluster type are widely used in chemistry and chemical technology, including compounds of Ti(IV) and Mo(VI), due to their specific chemical properties, which depend on their stoichiometric composition and the ratio of metallic and organic parts ; therefore, the analytical control of the metal content in these substances is necessary. Various chemical, physical, and physico-chemical methods have been proposed for the determination of titanium and molybdenum in various matrices, among which voltammetry occupies one of the leading positions. In the present work, the possibility of voltammetric determination of Ti(IV) and Mo(VI) in metal-containing organic compounds of cluster type using sulfuric-phosphoric acid dimethylsulfoxide-containing background electrolytes was investigated. It has been found that under these conditions, the electroreduction of Ti(IV) and Mo(VI) proceeds irreversibly with the participation of 1 and 2 electrons, respectively, while in solutions with a high content of dimethylsulfoxide, the potential difference between the Ti(IV) and Mo(VI) reduction increases. The concentration ranges of the linear dependence of the limiting currents of Ti(IV) and Mo(VI) on their content in the solution were found and the influence of related elements was estimated. New methods for the voltammetric determination of Ti(IV) and Mo(VI) in cluster-type compounds are proposed.
