THE ROUND SHAPED CUTTERS PROFILE CALCULATION FOR EXTERNAL PROCESSING

In this article, an original method for the graph-analytical profiling of round-shaped form tools for external processing is proposed, distinguished by its ability to systematize and automate calculations. Unlike existing approaches, the new method allows for the calculation of the cutter profile with a frontal surface of circular shapes, using both graphical constructions and analytical formulas. The method is based on constructing three projections of the tool profile and calculating main and auxiliary geometric parameters such as angles ε and β, as well as linear parameters Aᵢ, Bᵢ, Cᵢ and radius Rᵢ. The graphical part of the method is presented as a 12-step procedure, which includes constructing the baseline, locating nodal points, and forming the form-cutting edge profile. The analytical part of the calculation includes seven steps detailing formulas for determining design distances, inclination angles, and tool radius. The proposed method ensures high accuracy and can be implemented manually or with software, especially when individual tool geometry is required. The methodology has been tested within the framework of a project on tooling support for the manufacturing sectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan and can be applied in the design and production of high-precision form tools. Keywords: form tool, graph-analytical calculation, external processing, tool geometry, profile radius, sharpening angles.
