RESEARCH OF THE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE OF CHARGE MATERIALS FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF SILICON CARBIDE

This article discusses the results of determining the specific electrical resistance (SER) of charge materials consisting of highly dispersed silica and petroleum coke, as well as the pyrolysis product of rice husks for the synthesis of silicon carbide. The high proportion of the formation of highly dispersed silica in the production of high-silicon grades of ferroalloys and metallurgical silicon requires the development of new technologies for the further disposal of man-made dust waste containing from 86 to 95.8 % SiO2. A similar solution is required by the by-product of rice production – rice husk, which almost does not burn, does not rot and is mainly sent to the dump, polluting the environment. A promising solution to these problems is the production of silicon carbide using these materials. For this purpose, in this work, work has been carried out to determine their SER in the Tamman laboratory furnace on a special pilot plant in the temperature range of 20 – 1700 °C at a heating rate of 15 degrees/min The electrical resistance of charge materials at specified temperatures determines the possibilities of synthesis of silicon carbide. Keywords: electrical resistanse, microsilicon, microsilica, petroleum coke, pyrolysis, rice husk, silicon carbide, waste, recycling.
