Alkylation of phenol with cyclodimers of isoprene in the presence of zeolite-containing catalyst KN-30
The article presents the results of a study on the alkylation reaction of phenol with diprene, dipentene, and a fraction of isoprene cyclodimers. The alkylation was conducted in a continuous laboratory pilot plant using the zeolite-containing catalyst KN-30.The influence of kinetic parameters (reaction temperature, molar ratio of reactants, volumetric flow rate) on the yield of target products and selectivity of the processes was examined to determine the optimal conditions.Reaction temperatures ranged from 80 to 160C, with a molar ratio of phenol to cyclene varying from 2:1 to 1:2, and volumetric flow rates ranging from 0.2 to 1.0 h -1 to evaluate the yield and selectivity of the target product.Experimental results showed that at a temperature of 130-140C, a phenol to diprene molar ratio of 1:1, and a volumetric flow rate of 0.5 h -1 , the maximum yield of para-cycloalkylphenol 65.3-71.9%and high selectivity 87.2-92.3%were achieved. The structure and composition of the target products were confirmed by infrared (IR) and H 13 C NMR spectroscopy, chromatographic analysis, and other physicochemical methods. The obtained results demonstrate the high efficiency of the zeolite-containing catalyst KN-30 in phenol alkylation reactions, paving the way for the industrial synthesis of alkylphenols with high selectivity and yield
