Direct oxidation of methane to methanol and dimethyl ether with hydrogen peroxide on a biomimetic catalyst
The direct conversion of methane to methanol wire was achieved using heterogeneous biomimetic catalyst -iron pentafluorotetraphenylporphyrin immobilized on aluminum oxide (ImtOH) at atm. pressure and milder temperature. The reaction yielded liquid single-carbon compounds: methyl alcohol, dimethyl ether and formaldehyde with high selectivity. These products are widely used in the industrial chemistry. The mechanisms of the elementary steps leading to the production of methyl alcohol, dimethyl ether, and formaldehyde on the surface of the biomimetic catalyst involve the formation of an intermediate (ImtOOH).Within this process, the unity of oxidation reduction and acidic-basic catalysis mechanisms is observed, in accordance with the principle of the chain of redistribution of bonds, analogous to biocatalitic reactions.Based on the established coherent-synchronous nature of the reaction and the proposed most probable mechanism for the conversion of methane into its monooxygenates: methanol, formaldehyde and dimethyl ether, a kinetic model of the reaction of biomimetic monooxidation of methane with hydrogen peroxide has been compiled. The rate constants of elementary reactions, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the formation of an intermediate iron complex with a biomimetic ligand were calculated.Using these rate constants, theoretical values for the rate of methane consumption into monooxygenates were derived, which correlate well with the experimental data
