Genetic and microbial determinants of differential responses to soil inoculants in 128 accessions of Lactuca sativa
The development of more sustainable techniques in agriculture is one of the most important challenges of the 21st century. Taking advantage of beneficial plant-microbe interaction may represent a breakthrough in this direction.Indeed, soil, root-and leaf-associated bacteria and fungi provide several services to their plant host, ranging from phosphorous utilization, nitrogen fixation, plant-growth promotion, to the resistance against biotic and abiotic stresses.
